Ford company does not get tired of storming leadership positions in the market of environmentally friendly cars. After supplying Focus production in the configuration with the electric motor, the car concern announced two hybrid projects based on C-MAX.
According to the common information, both “green” representatives of C-Max-Hybrid and Energi have a greater effect and are much more economical than the same Prius family (Toyota). The main differences are less energy consumption and greater run.
The power unit of both models is represented by a two -liter turbocharged engine operating on the principle of Atkinson (a similar one is present on the same Toyota Prius) and an electric motor, the total power of which is 185 “horses” at the output. Both prototypes have a certain supply of electric trustees.
A significant difference between cars in recharging methods. So C-Max Hybrid uses quite effectively the brake recovery system, converting up to 95 % of the braking energy, as well as a gasoline engine. And the C-Max Energi is distinguished by the possibility of using a conventional power supply or charging devices by 240 V.
The assembly site of new hybrids is Michigan (USA), the start of production is scheduled for mid -2012.
